Fire Emblem Characters: Know your Favourite One

Fire Emblem Characters

All Fire Emblem characters have won countless fans' hearts with their post-time skip designs. After playing for hours, it can be challenging for the player to decide who to choose because there are so many alternatives.

Fans are even more driven to keep the characters alive in the game as a result of the numerous support chats that are accessible, which have given the characters enough depth that it is simple to develop an attachment to them. The characters are incredibly compassionate and have shown through their many potential outcomes that they can develop into outstanding, committed individuals.

Fire Emblem Characters

Since the third game in the Fire Emblem series, released in 1994, character interactions and support mechanics have been vital. Although the turned-based strategy is still the series' main focus, there's no denying that the varied casts of characters and their relationships with one another contribute to the attractiveness of the games. Continue reading to explore all about the Fire Emblem characters.

1. Byleth

Byleth

Byleth Eisner Sirius is a member of Nintendo's Fire Emblem line of video games. In Fire Emblem: Three Houses (2019), he debuted as the player character and primary protagonist. Since then, he has appeared in the crossover game Super Smash Bros.

Ultimate (2018) and Fire Emblem Heroes (2017), which were added as DLC in two consecutive years, 2020 and 2021, respectively, and as a recurring foe in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes (2022). Players in each game have the option to select the character's gender.

The player can choose the name and gender of the main character, Byleth. Byleth is a professor at the Garreg Mach Monastery. They possess the mysterious Crest of Flames and have access to the Sword of the Creator.

Byleth's father, Jeralt Eisner, a well-known mercenary who had left Garreg Mach Monastery, is the sole known relative throughout the game. Their possession of the goddess Sothis is later discovered to be a result of Archbishop Rhea's experiments in reawakening her mother.

Sitri, an artificial "vessel" designed to transport the Crest of Flames crest stone, gave birth to Byleth. Sitri could not use its power, but because of Jeralt's extraordinary generosity, she fell in love with him and gave birth to a kid.

2. Corrin

Corrin

The player avatar and star of Fire Emblem Fates is Corrin. A Hoshidan prince or princess raised in Nohr is forced to choose between their birth and adopted countries. Besides their Fates participation, Corrin's playable appearances in Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. fighting games attracted additional notice.

Corrin possesses ancient Dragon Blood and can use the power of Dragon Veins to alter the topography because she is a direct descendant of the First Dragons. However, Corrin is unique because he can change into a dragon. To take control of their shifting talents, they carry a dragon stone.

The fabled katana Yato, claimed to have belonged to a chosen warrior capable of establishing global peace, is in Corrin's possession. When the Yato draws strength from the other four legendary weapons, Brynhildr, Fujin Yumi, Siegfried, and Raijinto, it can transform into a different shape.

Depending on the game's course, these transformations take place. Corrin is an outgoing but soft-spoken individual who exhibits a significant degree of credulity and a strong desire to make friends with everyone they meet.

3. Marth

Marth

Marth is a made-up character from the Nintendo-owned Fire Emblem series created by Intelligent Systems. He plays the role of the main character and Lord class character in the first and third games in the series, as well as their respective remakes.

Shouzou Kaga, the game's creator and author, designed Marth as one of the characters for Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. Although Marth plays a significant part in the narrative, Kaga claims he is not the primary protagonist.

In the early stages of production, a scene was shown Marth wailing next to his retainer Jagen's body in a pool of blood; this was meant to represent Marth's terrible coming of age through the loss of a father figure. Although the identity of Marth's character designer is currently unknown, Tohru Ohsawa, Naotaka Ohnishi, Saotshi Machida, and Toshitaka Muramatsu collaborated on the game's graphics and character art.

4. Lucina

Lucina

One of the main characters in the 2012 role-playing video game Fire Emblem Awakening by Intelligent Systems, which is a component of the more significant Fire Emblem series of games, is a fictional character named Lucina.

Later, due to her popularity, she was added to several other video games, including the 2015 title from Intelligent System. Nintendo's cross-platform fighting game Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, as well as its follow-up, Super Smash Bros.

Lucina, also made an appearance in other Fire Emblem games, such as Fire Emblem Fates, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Fire Emblem Warriors, albeit in the last games she played more of a supporting role as opposed to the main character.

To update the series' archetypal medieval fantasy setting, Lucina worked with the studio to incorporate time-travel features. Lucina journeys back in time from a world in ruins to assist her father, Chrom, in achieving a different future.

Nintendo defined her as "an unyielding warrior with a strong sense of justice and devotion to her family" in the game. Her tenacity, willpower, and knowledge gained from witnessing the demise of her world are immeasurable assets.

5. Ike

Ike

Ike is one of the video game characters from the Fire Emblem series. He is the main character and Lord-class protagonist of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, the ninth installment in the series. He also appears prominently in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.

One of the most terrific characters from the Fire Emblem series, Ike, has also appeared in various media handles, most notably the Super Smash Bros. fighting game series. The primary character of Ike was supposed to be of lower social standing.

Unlike earlier Fire Emblem games where the protagonist was of royal lineage, this mercenary becomes involved in royal politics and conflict rather than being born into it. He also plays a key role as one of the two protagonists in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, as he faces off against an evil goddess' army.

Additionally, he appears as a bonus character in the video game Fire Emblem Fates, which allows players to control him by connecting their Amiibo to the corresponding titles. He appears in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn and has five different iterations in Fire Emblem Heroes.

6. Chrom

Chrom is a made-up character in the Fire Emblem franchise, which includes the video game Fire Emblem Awakening. The son of Marth and prince of the Kingdom of Ylisse is Chrom. He is the father of Lucina and the brother of Lissa and Emmeryn.

He is in charge of The Shepherds, a state-sponsored militia group looking into an adversary state's activities. He is the one who uses the fabled Falchion. Chrom has also made cameos in additional Fire Emblem titles in addition to Project X Zone 2, Tokyo Mirage Sessions F.E., and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which are crossover games.

In both Japanese and English, he is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita and Matthew Mercer, respectively. Chrom is well known for his white cape and trademark sword, the Falchion. He is described as "just a kind man" with "a bit of a temper," and someone who always has his people's best interests in mind.

He is also "princely, noble, sort of dumb, really gorgeous." Chrom is a "strong fighter, commander, and ally" because of his "fearsome character in battle" and "steadfast sense of justice." In the series, Chrom is close to his sister Lissa and his daughter Lucina.

7. Arval

Arval

A member of the Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes cast is named Arval. Only She can communicate with these mysterious beings. Arval is a mystery person that first came into their nightmares. He saved Shez from the Ashen Demon before they were killed and communicated with them as if inside their skull.

They seem to grasp how their powers operate and many facets of society, but they do not recall anything that happened before they met Shez. They also have no recollections of the time before meeting Shez, just like Sothis.

But despite this, they do have some hazy feelings for persons they've met before or feel connected to. They are even more snarky than Sothis and almost always have a witty comment to make, with a particular sneer for those in positions of authority.

Despite their apparent hatred toward them, they have a soft spot for Shez. While not particularly egotistical, Arval tends to lord their capabilities over Shez and frequently reminds them that they are still alive because of Arval's skills.

8. Lysithea

Lysithea

In the video games Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Lysithea can be controlled. She is a Golden Deer member from the Leicester Alliance and a student at the Officers Academy. She owns both a Major Crest of Gloucester and a Minor Crest of Charon.

The eldest child and heir to House Ordelia is Lysithea. When she was two years old, the Adrestian Empire exacted punishment on her family for their involvement in House Hrym's uprising. She is a magical prodigy whose abilities began to blossom at a young age.

Despite being recognised as a prodigy, Lysithea is a diligent student who strives to learn something new every day to develop herself fully. She claims that her abilities are not the result of innate talent but somewhat sheer willpower and dedication.

She dislikes it when people describe her talent as merely a natural talent. She wants to become more independent so she won't be a burden to her parents, who she loves very much.

When someone annoys her or appears to be looking down on her, she can be quite scathing in her speech. She is efficient with her time and becomes irritated when others waste it. She becomes impatient with anyone who even slightly delays or causes an inconvenience.

9. Azama

Azama

In Fire Emblem Fates, Azama is a playable character on the Birthright and Revelation paths. Azama is an aloof, sarcastic, and intellectual monk with absurdist views on the world and one of Hinoka's retainers.

Azama defies expectations by adopting a manner of breezy apathy in his respect for others and heavily utilising sardonic wit and dark humour in his speech, despite holding the position of a priest who is intended to embody the virtues of benevolence and compassion. He treats people rudely and indiscriminately.

While speaking with others, Azama occasionally corrects or clarifies himself because he genuinely cares about people despite his reputation as a prankster. He helps people like Felicia by ensuring she does her job correctly and tells Hinoka that he worries about her kindness because it could lead to her downfall. He even prays that Hinoka doesn't lose her innocence.

10. Edelgard

Edelgard

The playable character Edelgard is shown as the main protagonist in both Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. She is the future monarch and princess of the Adrestian Empire. She possesses a Seiros Minor Crest. She is the captain of the Black Eagles at the Officers Academy.

At the game's initiative, Edelgard is seventeen years old and uses axes as her primary weapon. She has a flair for painting pictures but is embarrassed to display them to others. She is a competent dancer who taught Dimitri at a young age.

Edelgard maintains a good demeanour while exuding a sombre melancholy and yearning solemnity. She is a model student and a natural leader as the Adrestian Empire's successor. She presents a humble front, rarely lets loose and upholds propriety.

Every time she unwinds, her coworkers are shocked. Although she tends to be secretive, she acknowledges the significance of her responsibilities and exhibits trust and faith in the skills of her allies.

Although she tries to hide it, Edelgard is terrified of rats because they make her think of a traumatic past. Since she is unable to swim, she also fears the water. She frequently wanders the streets after midnight and experiences nightmares.

11. Balthus

Balthus

Both Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes feature the playable character Balthus. He is an Abyss resident and a part of the Ashen Wolves. He wears the Chevalier, major Crest. Balthus, along with the other Ashen Wolves, is a primary protagonist in the Cindered Shadows side tale.

Balthus, a naturally boisterous man, is one of the few who doesn't make a big deal about Lysithea's eccentricities. Still, he's also surprisingly sympathetic because he was close to his younger half-brother and always thought he was better suited to be the head of their family. Hence, he chose to leave to make handing over his inheritance to him that much easier.

Despite having not spoken to Holst or his younger sister Hilda in a long time, Balthus still gets along well with them. He makes every effort to look after Hilda, even after the time skip when he keeps the promise he made to Holst before going into hiding in the Abyss.

He also acknowledges Holst's battle skill, saying he wouldn't have a chance against him. This regard becomes a glaring flaw Hilda uses to control Balthus' fondness for gambling and irresponsible behaviour.

12. Dimitri

Dimitri

In the video games Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Dimitri can be controlled and serves as one of the central characters. He is the Blue Lions' house captain and the 17-year-old prince of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. Dimitri uses lances as his primary weapon and wears a Minor Crest of Blaiddyd.

Dimitri has a peculiar sense of humour, as shown by his preference for Alois's cheesy jokes. He admits that he finds them funny because they are awful. Hapi claims that there is an incredible personality resemblance to his stepmother Patricia, including the way they interact with people and express rage.

In contrast to his disdain for delicate items and tasks due to his inability to manage his great power, he enjoys combat training, weapon repair, and lengthy rides. Despite this, he is quick and improves as a dancer under Edelgard's guidance. Similar to Edelgard, he dislikes intense temperatures.

In the Tragedy of Duscur, Dimitri experiences ageusia and survivor's remorse due to the massacre. He is the only one left who can stomach Flayn's cuisine due to the former, and the latter makes him hear and see ghostly apparitions of the dead.

13. Roy

Roy

Roy is a made-up character from Nintendo's Fire Emblem video game series. He first appears as a representative character from the Fire Emblem series in the 2001 crossover fighting game Super Smash Bros. Melee. He is the main character of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, which was only made available in Japan the following year. Roy is the son of Eliwood and the presumed heir to Pherae in the plot of The Binding Blade.

Pherae goes on to become a powerful military commander. Video game magazines have praised Roy's inclusion in Melee for its contribution to raising brand awareness for the Fire Emblem series overall outside of its native Japan, which prompted Nintendo to localize the series for foreign release.

Super Smash Bros. Melee, released in 2001, features Roy for the first time. In the 2018 instalment of the series, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he is back as downloadable content (DLC) for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. He also makes an appearance as part of the base roster. The main protagonist of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade is Roy.

14. Celica

Celica

Celica is one of the two main characters of Fire Emblem Gaiden and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. The shadows of Valentia show her to be 17 years old. She was mentioned on the official Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade website and in the Super Smash Bros. title.

She firmly believes peace can be achieved without fighting because conflict leads to more conflict. Although she favours peaceful resolutions, she is more than willing to risk her life and fight alongside her allies to defend them. She will gladly engage in combat to protect others if requested, although she rarely takes revenge.

She feels unworthy of the honour afforded by her inheritance because all that birthright has brought her is conflict. The entire Zofian royal family ordeal makes her uncomfortable with being regarded as royalty. She despises her father deeply for his behaviour throughout his time as king and feels terrible remorse.

Nevertheless, Celica claims that she secretly desired to be there for him to alter his perspective, pitying him for who he was. Even with the few times they had together before her passing, she remembers her mother with a fondness for the love she provided her.

15. Azura

Azura

The deuteragonist and significant playable character in Fire Emblem Fates are Azura. She is a Valla and Nohr princess who was taken prisoner and held in Hoshido. Azura developed a reserved and stoic personality due to the severe rejection, bullying, and discrimination she experienced during her time as a princess in Nohr, as well as the mistrust from some residents of Hoshido due to said Nohrian ties.

She only shares personal information with close friends and family members. Azura is a compassionate person with a remarkable depth of knowledge about various topics, some of which others would not be familiar with. This information focuses on Valla and her extraordinary capacity to control water with her necklace, as well as some background about dragons and her mother's deterioration.

She shares Corrin's view that striving to make the world a better place is important and wants to stick by him until the end of the route to see peace while being more pessimistic and sick of the world than Corrin.

16. Astram

Astram

In Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, and their remakes, Astram is a playable character. Astram is Midia's boyfriend and an Archanean mercenary. His king compelled him to enlist in the Dolunian military. On Marth's behalf, Midia persuaded him to join the Archanean League.

Astram is steadfastly committed to Archanea. He often does so without provocation and is ready to threaten people he believes to be traitors. Astram promises that "heads will roll" if Marth ever intends to use or betray Nyna if the player strikes up a conversation with him and Marth after the player joins Shadow Dragon.

Astram received a promotion and one of the Three Regalia of Archanea, the sword Mercurius, upon Hardin's ascent. Astram supported Hardin despite his lunacy because she had previously supported Princess Nyna and Archanea.

He feels resentment toward Jeorge for betraying Archanea, but Jeorge can persuade him to leave Archanea. Astram agrees but promises to hold Jeorge accountable if it turns out he is telling the truth rather than lying.

17. Sothis

Sothis

It turns out that Byleth appears in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. She is a mystery girl who Byleth can only reach. A Major Crest of Flames belongs to her. So this is a strange person who only manifests to Byleth in dreams and with whom she seems to share a particular bond.

She is annoyed that she can't remember her past. She occasionally nods off or fades during conversations since she is frequently sleepy, especially in the initial parts of the novel.

When awake, she comments on events and raises issues, giving Byleth guidance on how to move forward. She thinks herself superior to them despite being merely a passenger in Byleth and sternly corrects them when they make comments she deems dumb in response to her.

Even though she is ultimately helpless on her own and must rely on Byleth to communicate with the outside world, albeit in a restricted way, she demands a certain amount of respect.

18. Bernadetta

Bernadetta

In the video games Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Bernadetta can be controlled. She is a member of the Black Eagles and a student at the Officers Academy. She is from the Adrestian Empire. She belongs to House Varley and is also of noble birth.

Bernadetta owns a little Saint Indech Crest. She is 17 years old when the game begins. Because of the years of abuse she underwent at the hands of her father, Bernadetta is a shy, timid, and withdrawn young woman.

Instead of seeing Bernadetta as his daughter, her money-obsessed father regarded her as Crest-carrying bait for a wealthy spouse. He put her through years of "training," tying her to a chair and making her sit still all day to accomplish this.

Bernadetta was severely damaged in many ways by this ongoing mental torture, which also caused her to have an ingrained fear of her father, other people, and pretty much everything else.

Bernadetta frequently reacts impulsively on the battlefield, fleeing and hiding whenever she has the chance rather than engaging in combat. If she must fight, she likes to do so from the backline and is often taken aback and stunned when she succeeds in taking down an adversary.

19. Eirika

Eirika

In Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones and Fire Emblem Awakening, Eirika is a playable protagonist and DLC character. She is Prince Ephraim's younger twin sister and the princess of Renais, the sole child of King Fado of Renais. Eirika is a compassionate soul who abhors violence; she is a kind and understanding person who unexpectedly needs to command an army.

She acknowledges that fighting is sometimes necessary during the war to end strife and bring about peace, but she wishes there was a way to resolve their problems without dying. Due to her sheltered upbringing, she is innocent and incredibly naive, which is her worst weakness.

That being said, she rapidly adjusts to the situation and develops as she discovers the impacts of the conflict. She is intelligent, has good judgment, and is well-versed in geography, history, and diplomacy. Eirika is a thoughtful and friendly person.

She demonstrates concern for people, especially those who are essential to her. She dislikes fighting, but she is exceedingly courageous when faced with danger; she will never turn away someone who asks for help and will battle to defend her companions or her realm.

20. Alfonse

Alfonse

The protagonist and main character of Fire Emblem Heroes are Alfonse. He belongs to the Order of Heroes and is a prince of the Askran Kingdom. He is the son of King Gustav and Queen Henriette and the older brother of Princess Sharena.

Many opposed him joining the Order of Heroes because he was a prince of the country of Askr, including his father, while others thought it was just him being himself. He had a close friendship with Zacharias before the events of Heroes.

Still, Zacharias eventually vanished, and another hero he had befriended had gone to return to his home, so Alfonse was wary about becoming friends with new heroes. One of the Askran Trio that Heroes players are given at the outset of the game is Alfonse.

Alfonse, however, has several apparent deficiencies that are made worse by the fact that, like the other two members of the Askran Trio, he cannot merge and obtain post-Level 40 stats outside of Dragon Flowers and modify his Traits. His long-term potential is, therefore, severely constrained, given the availability of other cheap sword infantry users.

21. Aelfric

On behalf of the Church of Seiros, Aelfric is in charge of Abyss. He brought the populace to some order while saddened by Abyss's devastated, hungry, and lawless state. Despite their dislike of the Church, the inhabitants of Abyss tend to trust him since he is composed and forgiving. He also proposed the idea of the Ashen Wolves.

Aelfric is a good man who feels sorry for the inhabitants of the Abyss and wants to assist them in leading better lives in the hopes that they will one day surface. He established the Ashen Wolves residence to make this desire a reality. His kindness has touched many Abyss residents, who adore him.

He had a close relationship with Jeralt and Sitri, Byleth's parents, especially Sitri, whom he adored. Despite his feelings for her, he merely wanted her to be happy. He was overjoyed to see how much she cherished her relationship with Jeralt and her child. He was as affected by her passing as Jeralt was, if not more so.

22. Altina

Altina

The character Altina cannot be controlled in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. A founding member of Begnion, one of Ashera's Three Heroes, and the original wielder of both Ragnell and Alondite. She fought Yune as one of the Three Heroes under the heavenly protection of Ashera, the goddess of order.

Makes an appearance in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. With strong Atk and good overall size, especially as a Sword Flier unit, Altina quickly joined the battlefield. She became a free unit for all Heroes players after winning the A Hero Rises 3 event a few months later, making her a handy and potent resource for all players.

She is a potent Aether Raids unit during Astra seasons and highly helpful for most PvE modes as an Astra Mythic Hero with Atk Mythic Effect. Even while she has a low Spd, which is frequently an issue for some of Heroes' most effective troops, her muscular build largely compensates for this, which works to her advantage.

Altina is already prepared and has to learn the Support ability to Reposition to transport her friends across otherwise impassable terrain thanks to her greater flying mobility.

23. Edelgard von Hresvelg

 Edelgard von Hresvelg

The tactical role-playing game Fire Emblem: Three Houses (2019), a part of the Fire Emblem series, introduces the fictional character Edelgard von Hresvelg. She is the head of the Black Eagles, one of the three Officers Academy student houses that bear her name, and the successor to the formerly mighty Adrestian Empire.

She starts as the player's ally, but a twist in the series reveals her true identity as the Flame Emperor, a persona she uses to plot the overthrow of the Church of Seiros and the conquest of the other Fódlan countries to establish a society in which Crests hereditary birthmarks that signify noble blood and unique potential have no bearing on social status.

The option to support her cause is presented to the player if they decide to inform the Black Eagles at the start and have fulfilled specific additional prerequisites. She turns into one of the game's critical enemies in all other scenarios.

She does exceptionally well in combat with swords, axes, heavy armour, and leading troops but poorly with bows and light magic. She possesses a black magic skill that is hidden, but that may be developed in the classroom.

24. Asugi

Asugi

In Fire Emblem Fates, the character Asugi is playable. Asugi, a calm, intelligent, and capable individual, is concerned about carrying on his father's heritage while having little in common with him. Given that his father did not spend much time with him growing up due to the nature of the Deep Realms, he is not mainly motivated to succeed him.

Though this frequently causes problems with his father, Saizo, who despises sweets, he is tremendously fond of eating and making his desserts and carries them about at all times. He has even perfected several recipes merely by eating the sweets.

Although he gives off the impression of being pretty laid-back at first, he is very hard on himself when performing his ninja duties. Considerable evidence points to his frequent solo recon trips and his high self-assurance regarding espionage and escape.

He confesses to Hisame that ninjas are not permitted to build strong relationships with people, so even if they pass away while performing their duties, the remainder of the army won't be negatively impacted.

25. Barst

Barst

Barst is a playable character from Fire Emblem's Archanea Series. Barst is one of the Talysian mercenaries working for Ogma in Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light with Bord and Cord. Although Barst's growths have suffered some setbacks, his fundamentals are still strong, and the Fighter class buffs have greatly aided him.

He is now a reasonably quick unit thanks to his high strength counteracting the weight of his axes, and even if his growths are not great, they are more than enough to support him. Additionally, Barst already has a D-rank in axes when he enters, allowing him to use D-ranked axes immediately and increasing his versatility.

Due to his many advantages, Barst is frequently the most excellent option for an axe user throughout the game and one of the finest options for a frontline unit. Barst also benefits significantly from the weapon triangle because Shadow Dragon's maps are notoriously lance-heavy, making a solid axe-wielder an excellent asset to have on hand.

Compared to his teammates, Barst gains a huge durability advantage on higher levels when most foes have A-class weapon rankings, which significantly boosts their offence.

Conclusion

Even though Fire Emblem debuted ten years ago, its captivating narrative and high replayability make it one of the series' best games. The series has amazing characters with remarkable skills and features, which makes the Fire Emblem games more addictive.
